Liberals Will Be The Death of America

Liberal policies generally emphasize the need for government involvement to solve problems. Liberals believe the role of government is to guarantee that nobody is in need. In essence, the government is there to hold your hand and take care of you, according to liberals. In actuality, the role of government is to give everyone an equal opportunity to live and prosper. Let's explore what conservatives like myself believe.

Conservatives believe in personal responsibility, limited government, free markets, individual liberty, traditional American values and a strong national defense. We also believe the role of government should be to provide people with freedom and the opportunity to pursue their own goals. So this must mean us conservatives don't like to help people in need, right? Wrong.

I have had this conversation will liberals many times, and their response is almost always the same: "So you don't think we should help those in need?" And my answer is always the same: "That's not what I'm saying at all." You see, there's a difference between moral beliefs and political beliefs/ideologies. For instance, I believe I have a moral obligation to help those in need. To fulfill my moral obligation, I donate money to organizations such as Ronald MCdonald Charity House, The Red Cross, and local charities. From a political standpoint, it is not the governments responsibility to take care of everybody, and they shouldn't!

It's almost as if liberals live in this delusional world where money falls off trees, and the government can expand it's role because they believe it's their duty to take care of the American people. Government programs are not free, and they're not cheap. The expense ultimately falls on the United States tax-payers. If liberals truly believe the role of government is to take care of the American people from cradle to grave, they will run our economy into the ground, because it is IMPOSSIBLE, ABSOLUTELY IMPOSSIBLE to help everyone in need and still have a growing economy.

In addition, government programs increase the dependency the American people have on the government. Right now in the United States, we're a welfare state, and we have too many Americans that are dependent on our government; this must stop.

The biggest problem I think this country has, politicians and citizens alike, is that they confuse their moral ideologies with political ideologies. It was not the intentions of the founders to have the government take care of the American people. Their intentions were to give everyone an equal opportunity to live and prosper. If they saw what was happening today, they would absolutely be disgusted.

Liberals will be the death of America.

  4. Your answer to "So you don't think we should help those in need?" is too long for the attention span of most liberals.

I think the best answer is, "Yes. With my OWN money. Not yours, not my neighbor's down the street, which I took at gunpoint."

  5. @Ken, Yes, I love the way you think! However, I thought it was important to include the difference between moral obligations and political obligations, because it's something I feel strongly about. But, it should of been simplified a bit to keep the attention of liberal thinkers.

    Thanks for the comment Ken!
